Braided Updo Hairstyle Tutorial

BRAIDED HAIRSTYLE TUTORIAL

A new video was posted today on our channel (www.youtube.com/stylestrands) showing you how to get this gorgeous braided updo!

We loved this style because its easy to do, requires no special skills or techniques (besides braiding of course) and requires NO heat. This look is great for a casual day (work, school) or can be glammed up for a night out. Its versatility and the lack of time/effort it takes to make it = huge win. Halloween Haunt or Halloween HOT?

The age old question of whether to be sexy or scary on Halloween; Scary witch or sexy witch? Scary vampire or sexy vampire? hmmm I think this is one of those dilemmas that could be classified as a #firstworldproblem. None the less, as we get closer to Halloween everyone starts thinking of plans and what they will dress up as.

Halloween is definitely not just for kids.  To be honest I think it's a better for adults.  In my third year of University I actually attended 4 different Halloween parties with 4 different homemade costumes! Good times.

Here are two of my costumes from 2011 and 2010

2011 was scary. I was a zombie that was killed in a mental institution and back for revenge

2012 was "sexy".  I was Pocahontas - tired but still wanting to dance.

This year will be different because I of course want to incorporate some color in my hair and do more with it.  Not wanting to dye my hair, or wear an ugly wig I just left my hair down and straight. BORING!! Look at the pics again and you'll see what I'm talking about.  Now with Style Strands I can add the color I want, ahhhh the possibilities.  Here are a few ideas for bold hair and killer costumes....

The Leopard/ Cheetah

Outfit:Cheetah print dress
Accessories: Cheetah ears and tail
Make-up: Glam
Hair:  I would add a bunch of golden blonde, platinum blonde and dark ombre strands. Style by adding lots of volume with loose waves and crimpy waves from tight braids.

My Little Pony

Outfit: Pastel dress, skirt, shorts & top, matching "boot covers"
Accessories:  Pony ears, tail, gloves
Make-up: Colorful - pastel eye shadows, pink blush and lips
Hair: Pastel Style Strands (Pastel Pink, Mint Green, Lavender Purple, Peach). Styled straight or in loose waves.

Mystical Fairy

Outift: Flowy dress
Accessories: wings, jewelry
Make-up: Glam with lots of glitter
Hair:  Loose flowy waves with lavender highlights

Princess Peach

Outfit: pink and peach dress
Accessories: Small gold crown, gold star wand
Make-up: Pretty glam with pink lips and long lashes
Hair: Loose curls, volume and lots of peach and pastel pink highlights

Which one do you like best?  I am leaning towards the cheetah.  I could have so much fun styling this hair!! If you have any suggestions for a creative costume with sexy strands please post 'em on the Facebook page!

We designed our Style Strands Ombre Highlight Hair Extensions to give you that gorgeous look without bleaching and damaging your hair.
